Industrial Manufacturing Solutions
In an “Industry 4.0” environment, improving workers’ safety and efficiency is a priority. When operators enter the production floor, there is a critical need for a factory monitoring system encompassing the factory’s space, the on-site personnel and the processes. To achieve that, Smart glasses are a great tool allowing to bring together and visualize all the parameters relative to the manufacturing floor (personnel, equipment, processes, data, etc…). Therefore Smart glasses greatly contribute to improve the safety, productivity and quality of the factory’s operation.
Jorjin XR Smart Space Industrial Solution results from the combination of operators wearing MR Smart glasses equipped with positioning and orientation sensors, together with a dual-system based on cameras and mmWave-radars, capable to track the exact location of all operators and provide them with adequate guidance relative to equipment operation, inspection, maintenance, education or training.
Guidelines for Mixed-Reality-Assisted Work
In the past, when newcomers were trained to assemble, repair or overhaul equipment or machines, they needed to be accompanied by experimented staff who were teaching them one-to-one or one-to-many; this was inefficient and increased labor and maintenance costs. However, now, thanks to XR mixed reality technology and its capability of superposing virtual content on top of the physical world, new employees can intuitively follow the virtual process they need to respect through their smart glasses while keeping connection with their environment; therefore they can complete each action in accordance with the operating procedure without the help of an on-site expert, which greatly saves time and labor costs.
Integrated Task Management
Thanks to this smart glasses-based environment perception solution, the operator will have access to a complete series of work assignments, guidance, and guidelines as well as any other assistance needed, from the moment entering until leaving the smart space. The system is calculating the location of the staff in respect of the surroundings and deducts the most suitable task to be assigned to each person.
In addition to real-time grasp of the on-site situation, another important benefit of the system is that the central control has the ability to edit the process in real time. It can modify and adjust the work process of the staff at any time in response to temporary needs, such as visitors or other unexpected events, and immediately push it to the staff equipped with smart glasses.
Troubleshooting
Smart glasses can be very useful to deal on the spot with an abnormal situation popping out with equipment sitting on the factory floor, for example by allowing the on-site staff to establish a real time audio and video communication with remote experts; or possibly by providing on-site staff with hands-free access to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) relative to the equipment’s functional inspection and troubleshooting.
